Common wood species used include Douglas Fir, Spruce-Pine-Fir (SPF), and Western Hemlock. The wood is kiln-dried, strength-graded, and pressed under high pressure with durable adhesives. For outdoor use, pressure treatment can be applied to enhance longevity.
